1. The second aim of our
Congregation is to assist in the progress of its members in the knowledge
of the matters of the spirit. The Rule requires that each member spend a reasonable
amount of time in the study of Scripture and other spiritual writings; and
each of us ' as part of the ordination vow, promises to pray and study diligently
and faithfully in seeking the knowledge of such things as may make us stronger
and more able ministers of Christ. The Companions must, therefore, have the
degree of spiritual knowledge and wisdom which will enable them to minister
effectively to the souls committed to their care. The members of our Congregation
will to this end continue in the regular study of dogmatic, moral, and ascetical
theology. Furthermore, they will take more than ordinary care in the administration
of the Sacraments, and will endeavor to celebrate the Liturgy, whether of
the Altar or the Hours of the Divine Office, with utmost attention and care.
